First, create your Perfect Pet Profile by answering some simple questions online about your lifestyle and breed preferences. In approx. 7 business days of the adoption time frame you specify, (some breeds may take longer) you will receive an email with a minimum of three “Best in Show" candidates for you to review. Many of the dogs who find themselves homeless were originally sold from a breeder. While they may or may not have their American Kennel Club (AKC) papers, they can be every bit as pedigreed in appearance and personality. They’re just not as expensive! Another advantage to adopting a rescue animal is that the animal’s temperament and personality are already known (unless it’s very young.) While some of the dogs we place are surrendered with American Kennel Club (AKC) certification, there are times we don’t know for sure. When the history of the animal isn’t known, Perfectpetfinder.com relies on the expertise of veterinarians and rescue organization professionals to determine whether or not a dog is likely to be a pedigree. Whether a dog has papers or not, we strive to insure every pet meets or closely meets the standard for that breed. If you are looking for a dog to breed or show, we recommend contacting a reputable breeder.

Occasionally, perfectpetfinder.com may be unable to find a dog in your area based on your search criteria. If this should happen, we will contact you to with suggestions on revising your Personal Pet Profile, if appropriate. With the new information, we will perform additional searches at no cost to you or, if you prefer, refund your method of payment. If we can’t find the dog of your dreams, you don’t pay a penny! We understand that, sadly, sometimes an adoption doesn’t work out due to unforseen circumstances. Should this happen, please return your dog to the shelter from where you adopted it. Most shelters and rescue organizations do not offer refunds if the adoption doesn’t work out. Please check with the individual shelter for details. Perfectpetfinder.com cannot offer any refunds once the adoption is final and the dog is brought home.

Ultimately, it is the customer’s responsibility to receive approval and abide by the rules and conditions of each shelter. The shelter has final authority for animal placement in ALL adoption cases.

Shelters are a wonderful resource for pedigreed dogs, but some people do find the barking and rows of caged animals to be depressing. If one of your Perfect Pet candidates resides at a shelter, perfectpetfinder.com will arrange to have the pet brought to you in the lobby or in a private “greeting room,” if the facility has one.

Perfectpetfinder.com does not offer a pet taxi service at this time. However, there are many such reputable services available nationwide. If you send us an email with your request, we will, at no charge, be happy to help find a pet taxi near you.

Perfectpetfinder.com isn’t a shelter, and therefore is unable to take dogs surrendered directly from individuals. We suggest you contact a reputable no-kill animal shelter or breed-specific rescue group for help. If, after you have relinquished your dog to one of these organizations, you would like to email us with a photo and information about him or her, we would be happy to add him to our database, free of charge.
